From Surviving to Thriving | Col 2:6-7

Christ promised his followers an abundant life (John 10:10). God’s abundant life however, does not necessarily reflect the priorities of this fallen world. This world sees abundance as the accumulation of wealth; God sees abundance as life-giving
fruit to be shared. According to Colossians 2:6-7, God’s abundance is truly lived when regardless of our circumstances we are transformed into Christ-like people who overflow with gratitude for Gods’ ever sufficient grace. Abundant gratitude
for God’s glorious generosity is the fruit that shares God’s love with those who need it most.

¿Cuán profundas son tus raíces? | Colosenses 2:6-7

Los primeros años de vida de un árbol son los más críticos. Es común que muchos árboles no crezcan mucho en altura durante sus primeros años. Sin embargo, la mayor parte del crecimiento ocurre bajo tierra. Para soportar el peso de una copa madura, un árbol debe desarrollar un sistema radicular fuerte, estable y capaz de encontrar los nutrientes y el agua necesarios para garantizar su vida. Esto también aplica a la vida espiritual. En Colosenses 2:6-7, Pablo nos recuerda que una vida profundamente arraigada es necesaria para que la edificación se lleve a cabo.

How Deep Are Your Roots? | Col 2:6-7

The first years in the life of a tree are the most critical. It is common for many trees not to grow much in height in their first years. However, most of the growth is taking place underground. In order to support the weight of a mature canopy a
tree must develop a root system that is strong, stable and able to find the nutrients and water to guarantee the life of the tree. This is true in the spiritual life as well. In Col. 2:6-7 Paul reminds us that a deeply rooted life is necessary for edification
to take place.

Aprender a caminar lleva tiempo, pero una vez adquirida esta habilidad, se convierte en una habilidad esencial para toda la vida. De igual manera, el siguiente paso para los creyentes nacidos de nuevo, aquellos que han recibido a Cristo como Señor, es aprender a seguirlo para convertirse en discípulos y, con el tiempo, en hacedores de discípulos. En Colosenses 2:6-7, Pablo recuerda a los creyentes la importancia crucial de sus primeros pasos en su camino de toda la vida como seguidores de Jesucristo.

Learning to Walk | Col 2:6-7

In our physical development before we can run, we must learn to walk. The same is true in the spiritual life. Learning to walk takes time but once this skill is acquired, it becomes an essential life-long skill. Likewise, the next step for born-again believers, those who have received Christ as Lord, is to learn to follow him to become disciples and eventually disciple-makers. In Col 2:6-7, Paul reminds believers of the cruciality of their first steps in their life-long journey as followers of Jesus Christ.

Time To Walk The Talk | Col 2:6-7

Maturity takes time. Whether in the physical or spiritual, maturity is the milestone of healthy growth which life aims in order to multiply. Even though maturity takes time, the waiting is worth it. God has endowed living organisms with his life-giving capacity. This gift of life is the overflowing of God’s love over his creatures. Waiting for this maturity sometimes feels as inefficient or ineffective but it is in the seasons of waiting that God prepares us for the next growth spurt. In Colossians 2:6-7 Paul gives us a clear pathway to maturity to multiplication where believers become disciples, and disciples become disciple-makers. Is this what you have been waiting for?
