Learning to Walk | Col 2:6-7

In our physical development before we can run, we must learn to walk. The same is true in the spiritual life. Learning to walk takes time but once this skill is acquired, it becomes an essential life-long skill. Likewise, the next step for born-again believers, those who have received Christ as Lord, is to learn to follow him to become disciples and eventually disciple-makers. In Col 2:6-7, Paul reminds believers of the cruciality of their first steps in their life-long journey as followers of Jesus Christ.

La madurez lleva tiempo. Ya sea física o espiritual, la madurez es el hito del crecimiento saludable que la vida busca para multiplicarse. Aunque la madurez lleva tiempo, la espera vale la pena. Dios ha dotado a los seres vivos con su capacidad de dar vida. Este don de vida es el desbordamiento del amor de Dios sobre sus criaturas. Esperar esta madurez a veces parece ineficiente o ineficaz, pero es en los tiempos de espera que Dios nos prepara para el siguiente estirón de crecimiento. En Colosenses 2:6-7, Pablo nos da un camino claro hacia la madurez y la multiplicación, donde los creyentes se convierten en discípulos y los discípulos en hacedores de discípulos. ¿Es esto lo que has estado esperando?

Maturity takes time. Whether in the physical or spiritual, maturity is the milestone of healthy growth which life aims in order to multiply. Even though maturity takes time, the waiting is worth it. God has endowed living organisms with his life-giving capacity. This gift of life is the overflowing of God’s love over his creatures. Waiting for this maturity sometimes feels as inefficient or ineffective but it is in the seasons of waiting that God prepares us for the next growth spurt. In Colossians 2:6-7 Paul gives us a clear pathway to maturity to multiplication where believers become disciples, and disciples become disciple-makers. Is this what you have been waiting for?
