This World Is Not My Home – The Oppression Of Egypt | Exodus 1

Play Video
We all live in a broken world. Ever since Genesis 3 this world is not what God wanted it to be. Bondage to sin and decay are the consequences of sin and death. Out of this broken world, God is calling his people to a new life where the presence of God frees us from the brokenness of this dark world and ushers us into his kingdom of light. The question now is, will we answer his call?

Where is God in the long-journey of ups and downs of prosperity and adversity?

God’s providential presence in the midst of…

I. Prosperity, prepares his people to fulfil his promises Exodus 1:1-7.
     a. Promise: the covenant with Abraham cf. Genesis 15:13-14.
     b. Provision: fruitful and faithful to bless all mankind cf. Genesis 50:15-26.

II. Adversity, refines his people’s faith to receive his salvation Exodus 1:8-22.
     a. Peril: from threat to death and civil disobedience.
     b. Protection: God’s hand when we can’t see it v. 17,20.

Prosperity and peril are two sides of the same coin that God providentially allows to
prepare his people for the fulfillment of his plan
Thank God in prosperity and trust God in adversity.

1. Are you experiencing a season of prosperity? How are you using your resources to secure a strong and godly legacy for present and future generations?
2. Are you experiencing a season of adversity? How is God using this adversity to refine your faith and to deliver you from the oppression of this world?

Meals as Enacted Promise | Luke 24

Comfort food. We all have a meal or two we go to when we need to be cheered up. The trauma the first disciples experienced after the Passover meal was almost unbearable. How could they move on? Thank God for the resurrection! The new day of the resurrection assures us death is not the end. A new day is coming where death will be no more and where, non surprisingly, Jesus will meet us a the table again with the ultimate comfort food anticipating the Kingdom to come.

The host himself offered forgiveness and abundant life in God’s kingdom and yet, this meal became his last anticipating his imminent death. Paradoxically a gracious life-giving, liberating meal marked Jesus as someone who was born to die as a criminal but was innocent as a lamb. Jesus’s last supper is an invitation to trade places where he offers his life for our death and where we surrender our life for his glory.…
