To what kind of lifestyle does God want his sanctified people to commit? The lifestyle of God’s sanctified people rests on their commitment to…

I. The exclusivity and supremacy of their relationship with God: loving God with our whole being (Exodus 20:1-11, Psalm 115).

     a. First and second commandment: who and how to worship – exclusivity of our devotion to God

     b. Third commandment: Supreme respect for God’s name and revelation

     c. Fourth commandment: Supreme respect for God all of our days and activities

II. The sanctity of their relationships with each other and with themselves: loving others as we love ourselves (Exodus 20:12-17).

     a. Sanctity of family authority: parents 20:12.

     b. Sanctity of human life: no murder 20:13.

     c. Sanctity of our sexuality: marriage 20:14.

     d. Sanctity of property: society 20:15.

     e. Sanctity of social credibility: truth and justice 20:16.

      f. Sanctity in the heart: Thou shall not covet 20:17.

Love is the heart of God’s law

Telling sinners to repent

And believers to commit.

1. Is your lifestyle Christ-centered? Look at the first four commandments and see if there are any idols replacing your devotion to God. Confess and repent before these idols costume your life (See Psalm 115).

2. How is your life showing others that you are a committed follower of Christ? Do you live to love God in and through the lives of others?
