The Church remains faithful to its God-given calling when it keeps in mind that…
I. The Mission is rooted in God’s Truth (Titus 1:1-4).
a. The Faith of God’s elect: we are God’s chosen people.
b. The Knowledge of God’s Truth: producing godliness (maturity!).
c. The Hope of eternal life: we rest on the “God who never lies”.
II. The Mission requires qualified leaders (Titus 1:5-9).
a. The family comes first (5,6).
b. Above reproach (7,8).
c. Ready to teach, keep, and protect the Word (9).
III. The Mission demands the protection of sound doctrine (Titus 1:10-2:1).
a. Threats coming from the inside (10,11).
b. Threats coming from the outside (12-16).
c. “Teach what accords with sound doctrine” (2:1).
To lead a compromised world in the Word,
we must remain a household firmly ordered
by the Truth of the God Who Never Lies.
We can only fulfill our calling when
our leaders, our teaching, and our lives are
firmly anchored in the truth of the gospel.
1. Is my life being shaped by the truth of God’s Word, or have I allowed the values of the world to influence the way I think, speak, and live?
2. If someone looked at my character today, would they see the kind of spiritual maturity and integrity that reflects the gospel and prepares me to influence others for Christ? How can I start moving in that direction?
