The Battle For My Identity

What if my identity was shaped by how God sees me and not by who the world says I am? This sermon challenges the sin-distorted identity that we believe is real, that our worth is wrapped up in our prestige, our historical footprint, our followers/likes/reposts, our financial statement, our property, our children’s success, etc. and refocuses our attention on who God says we are, that our identity mirrors him as image bearers, as ‘little Christs’ breaking forth light in a dark world, as heirs to an eternal kingdom, as children created to rule and reign in God’s place, etc. Once our identity is grounded in who God says we are, then the church begins to emerge looking differently because we spend less time focusing on what we can contribute to the world and rather focus on what God can do through us for the world.
