Every parent wants a better future for his/her children. However, many in this broken world live in conditions where a better future seems unreachable. Many times, when all hope seems lost, God intervenes to do what is impossible for us. The story of Moses is the story of what God can do through those who are powerless but say yes to his call.

How does God use life-detours to prepare us for his redemptive plan?

Through life-detours, God prepares his servants to answer his call by…

I. Providing resources: Moses’s journey through privilege and pride Exodus 2:1-10.
     a. Out of the waters: grace.
     b. Prince of Egypt: from grace to privilege and pride (taking matters into our own
hands and in our own ways).

II. Transforming their pride into humility Exodus 2:11-22.
     a. A shepherd’s heart cf. Philippians 2:1-11.
     b. Sojourner in a foreign land Exodus 2:22.

III. Inviting them personally to join him in the fulfillment of the deepest longings of
their hearts Exodus 3:1-22.

To fulfill God’s purpose in the detours of your life
Resist the lure of choosing your way

By yielding humbly to his call.

1. What prideful elements of your character does God want to strip away in this season of your life to keep you from depending on your own resources to fulfill his plan?
2. What dreams or desires is God currently asking you to surrender for you to be available for him to invite you into his redemptive plan?
3. What ministry is the Lord called you to discover a deeper sense of fulfillment in Christ?
