How do the people of God navigate the tensions of the different generational needs to multiply disciple-makers?
In order to multiply disciple-makers in the midst of the tensions of different generations…
I. Each generation must be willing to surrender its platform to join God in the next chapter of his redemptive plan regardless of the risks: True Surrender (Holding on and letting go) Deuteronomy 31.
a. Moses’s stewardship – endowing the next generation with the resources to join God in his mission: CEO (Chief Encouraging Officer), God’s word, godly, trained and tested God-appointed leadership (31:1-15, cf. 1 Cr 29:1-9).
b. The test of the true leader: letting go in spite of the risks (31:14-29).
c. The younger generation: courageously answering the call embracing God’s word (31:5-8).
II. Each generation must learn to place its ultimate sense of fulfillment in God’s eternal provision rather than this world’s temporary pleasures: finishing well (Deuteronomy 34).
The world will forget even the greatest of leaders,
But God remembers the smallest of his saints.
God’s eternal returns on our temporary investments
Are out of this world when each one reaches one.
1. What is the Lord asking you to yield to endow the next generation with the resources needed to continue his work?
2. Who is the next one that God has called you to reach for his glory?
3. How are you preparing to finish this race? Be careful that you do not end up winning the whole world and losing your soul.
