What does God require from his servants in positions of leadership?
God’s servant leadership paradigm requires his servant-leaders to…
I. Model obedience-based authority: Authority (Lev. 8).
a. God’s protocol: obedient faith leads to life “the Lord has commanded” – salvation, sanctification, and multiplication (8:5).
b. Ordination (8:22-23): setting (cf. Ex. 25:7, 1 Ch 29:2).
II. Multiply God-glorifying disciples: Responsibility (Lev. 9).
a. The heart of multiplication: “Say to the people of Israel” – teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you: intercessory and mediatorial servant leadership (cf. Heb. 2: 17-18).
b. The goal of multiplication: To reveal God’s glory through God-glorifying disciples (9:4-6, 23-24).
III. Monitor the faithful execution of elementary principles: Accountability (Lev. 10, Heb. 7:26-28, Rev. 5:9-14).
True servant leaders seek to benefit others through their personal sacrifice
Not to sacrifice others for their personal benefit.
For even the Son of man did not come to be served
But to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)
1. Authority: Do you walk the talk or just talk? The power of your testimony is directly proportional to your obedience to God’s word.
2. Responsibility: Do you have skin in the game or do you just sit to watch the game? We are responsible before God and others to share God’s life-giving news- who are you discipling?
3. Accountability: God disciplines those whom he loves. Are there any areas of willful disobedience in your life that need to be brought under his Lordship before judgment or discipline comes?
