Confronting the Powers | Exodus 5-9

Play Video
Freedom from the bondage of sin and the oppressive powers of this world does not come easy. God is at war with the powers that, behind the curtains, control the human players of every age. For every hardened heart and institution that opposes God and his redemptive purposes, there are spiritual powers at play that God must vanquish before redemption makes a way to rescue and restore those whom God has called to be his redeemed and renewed people.

How does God break the bondage of the dark forces that enslave his people?

Do not harden your heart (Hebrews 3:7).

1. We live in a culture where we believe we are the masters of our destiny; control over our lives is an illusion that arises from our self-centered desires. What areas of your life is God allowing to be transformed so that you can soften your heart to his call?

2. The humble heart of the Lamb of God was broken by our transgressions. Only those who approach him in faith will survive God’s judgment. Who do you trust for your security and your significance?

Meals as Enacted Promise | Luke 24

Comfort food. We all have a meal or two we go to when we need to be cheered up. The trauma the first disciples experienced after the Passover meal was almost unbearable. How could they move on? Thank God for the resurrection! The new day of the resurrection assures us death is not the end. A new day is coming where death will be no more and where, non surprisingly, Jesus will meet us a the table again with the ultimate comfort food anticipating the Kingdom to come.

Meals as Enacted Salvation | Luke 22

A death sentenced criminal last meal is a grace given before the end. This was a meal meant to offer freedom and the joy of a new beginning.
