In this sermon we unveil our calling for the next chapter of DFBC. This will be an exciting opportunity to step up in the faith. As DFBC, we are more than ever grateful for the rich heritage and faithful ministry these last 75 years. We are also looking forward, more than ever, to what our God will do to make us more and more into the likeness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Commission: Jacob’s Love Journey
We will continue our journey of faith, hope, and love taking a look at Jacob’s story in the book of Genesis. As believers mature and become disciples, on their journey towards maturity, disciples will be challenged to grow beyond their personal needs toward meeting other's needs becoming disciple-makers. Jacob’s story helps us see our third metric, commission, in action. The commission is all about sharing God’s blessing with the world. In the narrative of the patriarchs, Jacob is the third-generation believer who has wrestled through the challenges of embracing his identity, abiding in his faith, and facing the ultimate choice of deciding what his heart loves most. Jacob’s story is the story of Jacob becoming God’s leader that humbly passes on God’s blessing to the world revealing the coming of the Messiah. Jaco’s story is the victory of love and humility over pride.
Commitment: Isaac’s Hope Journey
We continue our journey of faith, hope, and love in the life of Isaac. His story is told in Genesis chapters 24-25. As the child of the promise, Isaac’s role as the preserver of the faith was critical to God’s plan to restore the world. For God’s promise to grow and mature, Isaac would have to commit to a process of becoming into the likeness of the One who called him to be a blessing.
Conversion: Abraham’s Faith Journey
When are we successful?”Since God has called us to be a disciple-maker multiplying church, we need to be able to measure growth on our journey. During this series, I will be introducing our DFBC metrics- The 3C’s (Conversion, Commitment, Commission). This Sunday I will be sharing about the first of the 3C’s- Conversion. In the growth to maturity as a disciple-maker, conversion marks the beginning of our journey. Conversion begins as we are born again by faith in God’s word. In the Bible, Abraham is the first in a long line of people who, by faith, inherit the promises of a new life in the likeness of God. Conversion gives us a new identity and answers the question who do I belong to?
