What are three critical purposes for the flourishing of human life fulfilled through the
life-giving power of God’s word?
Sermon Category: Choose Life
Who will you trust to get you through? | Luke 24:13-49
A while ago I read a sign that said to not take life too seriously, since we are not going to get out of it alive after all. Life is rarely a walk in the park but it is in the moments of hardship and difficulty that God wants to come alongside to show us that not even death can separate us from his love. In those moments of difficulty, who will you trust to get you through? More than a manual of good principles and morality, the Bible is God’s life-giving story through Jesus Christ. Because of what Jesus has done for us, we are now able to choose life in spite of our spiritual blindness, Jesus is the One we can trust to get us safely through this valley of death.
The story of two Journeys | Psalm 1
To be life-giving we must first be life-receiving. In God’s story all life originates in God. God created the world by his Word and it is his Word that sustains our lives and gives us a chance to choose life. Psalm 1 outlines the first steps of our journey. In God’s economy, choosing life begins with trusting and treasuring God’s word.
