True Love Tells…
What does maturity in a disciple’s life and in the body of Christ should look like? In the new testament the fullness of mature humanity looks like no other than Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:13). At the end of his ministry, Jesus summarized the developmental progress of a disciple showing love to be the hallmark of his true community of disciples (John 13:8). Paul certainly concurs showing that love is where faith and hope lead as the ultimate expression of a mature believer (1 Cor 13). In the New Testament literature, the writings of John stand as a witness of the fullness of God’s revelation through the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Jesus, being God the Son, is Love incarnate. For John, the incarnation is what reveals the fullness of God but also the fullness of humanity’s potential under his redemptive purposes. For John, true maturity on a personal and congregational level is none other than being participants of the incarnation in fellowship and witness with the Triune God. For DFBC, this series will pave the way to answer the question, what kind of community are we becoming? Hopefully, in God’s mercy, we are becoming a church that is mature in the love of Christ.
