The Waiting

Home » Sermons » The Waiting

Waiting is not always fun. To those of us who tend to be impatient, waiting sometimes feels like punishment. In the Biblical narrative, waiting is at the core of our eschatological hope. Waiting is the heart of biblical hope, and it is when we wait patiently on the Lord that we reach what our hope longs for (Romans 8:25). Waiting is also the heart of the gospel because Christ is the One we wait for. In the words of Isaiah 25:9, the day is coming when we will be able to say, “behold this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us.” This Christmas season, we are eagerly awaiting this new chapter of more fruitfulness, but we know that this will only happen as the Lord makes himself present to do what only he can do-Salvation. Our current Christmas series, “The Waiting”, encourages us to stay faithful and hopeful as God once again surprises us with his gift of love, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
