The Solomon Generation

Home » Sermons » The Solomon Generation

Our generation is the heir of mind-blowing opportunities and challenges. Ours is a generation that has inherited the wealth of insight and achievements of every generation that has come before. Even though we have so much it seems that we, as a generation, constantly lack the wisdom to use our resources best. In the Scriptures, Solomon represents the apex of Old Testament achievement and blessing. Israel experienced God’s spiritual, political, and economic blessings during his reign. At the height of his kingdom’s glory, however, he turned away from God and used his gifts for his personal power, prominence, and pleasure bringing the demise of his kingdom and ushering in an age of apostasy and pain. Our church generation similarly, runs the risk of squandering God’s blessings in worldly pursuits and failing to uphold God’s kingdom and purposes. During this sermon series, we will challenge our church to reflect on the key question: “WHAT will you do with the gifts that you’ve received?”. How we answer this question will determine what kind of “Solomon” we’ll become.
