The Price of Our Peace

For the last two years, we have experienced a disruption of our social rhythms and relationships. The Covid pandemic, political unrest, economic instability, and many other factors, have contributed to a decrease in the quality of life of our communities. This disruption is particularly acute in the areas of mental health. According to a study from the Kaiser Family Foundation, 40 % of adults in the US have reported symptoms of anxiety disorder and/or depressive disorder in contrast with 11% of pre-pandemic levels. It is in this context of anxiety and worries that the Biblical message of Christmas is desperately needed. In this sermon series “The Price of our Peace” we will explore the significance of Christ’s Birth (Christmas) bringing a peace that surpasses understanding born of his vicarious suffering as depicted in the Servant song of Isaiah 53.
