Commission: Jacob’s Love Journey

We will continue our journey of faith, hope, and love taking a look at Jacob’s story in the book of Genesis. As believers mature and become disciples, on their journey towards maturity, disciples will be challenged to grow beyond their personal needs toward meeting others’ needs becoming disciple-makers. Jacob’s story helps us see our third metric, commission, in action. The commission is all about sharing God’s blessing with the world. In the narrative of the patriarchs, Jacob is the third-generation believer who has wrestled through the challenges of embracing his identity, abiding in his faith, and facing the ultimate choice of deciding what his heart loves most. Jacob’s story is the story of Jacob becoming God’s leader that humbly passes on God’s blessing to the world revealing the coming of the Messiah. Jaco’s story is the victory of love and humility over pride.
