Director of Missional Engagement
James Arritt
James Arritt is blessed to be married to Monique and to be the dad of four kids.
James took his first short-term mission trip to Mexico while in high school, and in college felt called to missions and unreached peoples. He taught in a missions school in Paraguay and later taught in public schools in Virginia. In 2005 he met and married Monique and joined Wycliffe Bible Translators. He and Monique, along with their four kids, lived and served in Malaysia with SIL for eight years. He served in literacy, helped with a contextualized translation of the Gospel of Mark, and served in leadership. He loved the food of Malaysia, especially Sarawak laksa and durian, the mighty king of fruits (it is great, don’t let the smell fool you.) The family returned from Malaysia in 2018 and James stopped working remotely with SIL Malaysia in 2023.
Now based in Dallas, James still serves with SIL and works with Monique on SIL’s Global Trauma Healing leadership team.
James loves connecting with people across cultures and languages and sharing the love of Jesus with them.
James loves that DFBC is a church for all nations. The church has such a wealth of people who have served cross-culturally. James loves DFBC’s emphasis on Life Restoration ministries and is a part of the Bible-based heart healing ministry. He loves the culture of honesty and vulnerability in the church.
